The Michigan Tech Safe Place Program

Purpose and Guiding Assumptions

To foster a university climate in which each individual is treated with dignity and respect, based on the assumption that all living, learning, and working environments should be safe and free from discrimination, prejudice, and harassment.

To educate faculty and staff about the needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (GLBTQ) students and ways they can serve as a resource for these students, based on the assumption that it is possible to adhere to individual moral, ethical, and religious views while also ensuring that students are aware of and have access to necessary resources and support services.
